93 3.Slow Acting Up
Hey guys
Recently i have had a few problems with my 93 4runner. Let me begin by saying it has a rebuilt "super stock" 3.0 V6, 4" lift, and 5.29 gears, auto tranny.
I replaced the engine 2 years ago, along with a new radiator, power steering pump, and a few suspension components.
This last weekend, it was 0 degF here in Denver, and she wouldn't start up. I have a duralast Gold battery, and she kept cranking but would wine and wouldent completely turn over, then would idle at 200-300 rpm for a second then die. It was 30 degF today and she started up just fine. Never really had a problem starting in cold temp (i go skiing all the time and starts at that temperature every weekend).
I would normally not think much of it, but Ive had another problem that makes me believe something larger is at play. Its only happened 2 or 3 times, but the engine will rev up at a high RPM when i push on the gas while the truck will actually slow down. It loses pretty much all power, and you can feel the engine brake, and at this point pretty much decelerates and you have to pull off the road This problem only has happened at highway speed in the cold, and the last time i was able to pop it in neutral and rev it up, and that high RPM seems to force fuel through the cylinders temporarily fixing the problem. Also note worthy, when running at highway speeds for a while and coming to a complete stop, the car will idle really low then stall out (has only happened a few times).
I replaced the fuel filter last year thinking this might be the issue (now i know thats most likely not the issue.) Im thinking about replacing the spark plugs (have probably 35k miles on them) as well as throwing some techron in the tank. Kind of lost at where to go from here, 99% of the time she runs like a champ but recently shes started acting up again. Without going mad replacing parts I was wondering if this is a common issue or anyone has heard of common problems like this for the 3vze.
Thanks in advance.
Wes
