Hey guys. I've got a 93 4x4 pickup with a 3.0. It starts and runs fine sometimes then other times it starts fine but when I get to 1700 Rpms it doesn't get any gas. I can change gears and sometimes it will pick right back up other times I have to just change gears, pump the gas and hope it takes back off. It never dies it just won't rev up or go. I've checked my codes and I get a 14 and a 25. Thanks for any help.

Code 14 should stop the engine (by turning off the injectors). So I'm guessing it's a stored code; pull the EFI fuse for 30 seconds and try again.

To the list of causes in the FSM for code 25, I'd add vacuum leak. It too is a stored code, so check again after resetting.

Is your ignition timing set correctly?

Thanks scope. Not sure about the ignition timing. I'm not really much of a mechanic but I'm willing to try. Someone said it could be a throttle position sensor. Does that sound like a good thing to change?

Might well be a good thing to test for correct function, but not smart to throw money at a guess.

Spend a few bucks on a DVOM (electrical test meter) and google how to test and adjust your existing TPS.

If you're not made of money, and I assume that you're not, because you are driving this old iron, the sooner you become a competent mechanic/ trouble-shooter, the better it will be for you.

When was the last complete tune up done? I have seen fuel filters clogged that fuel flow just cant flow at the rate needed for higher speeds. I have seen spark plugs so worn that I don't know how the truck ran as there was just barely a nub left on the plug.

I would work on getting the codes cleared and a tune up. That can solve several issues. Neglect is common on most cars and trucks.

Thanks for the replies. I have changed the fuel filter and the plugs. I got a throttle position sensor but I'm not sure I'm gonna put it in if it might not be the problem. They are not cheap
