92 toyota 4runner 4.88 gears ??????

I found a 92 4runner with 4.88 gears. Will the front and rear 3rd members fit into my 1987 Toyota pickup with 4.10 gears

they should. just remember the front diff housing if using the auto hubs is different than the manual hub one. so you will need to add a hoseclamp inside the auto hub housing to spacer the coupler.

Hey guys thanks for such quick response. Yeah a local junk yard has that 4 runner they priced me the front and rear 3rd members for 200.00 bucks or the rear 3rd member and complete front housing for 300.00 bucks

Try this link.
Great info and yes they will work. A little changing of parts and a oil seal added. Presto!

Okay it's been awhile since I posted in this thread. Anyhow this is the verdict. Today I went and purchased the complete front housing and the rear 3RD member. Both of course came from the 1992 4Runner and of course factory 4.88 gears. Okay this is what in going to do.

I'm just going to replace the rear 3rd member so that's just a pull out and put back swap. Nothing else to it.

The front end: okay this thing is identicle to mine except for the auto locking ˟˟˟˟ that works the front diff. So I am running factory lock in a d out hubs so that other stuff is useless. So here's the question.

Can I just swap the 92 3rd member to my front housing? Or do I have to use the other housing and just swap the auto locking shaft? Which is easier and recommended? If I swap out the shaft on the other what kinda seal am I suppose to replace? Can I buy it at NAPA or Advance? Does anyone know what it's called?

All info is greatly appreciated. Thanks for everyone's input and as soon as I get all the info I need to do this I will post pics and keep you all informed with my progress and results.

Okay I done a google search on that seal and I came up with a Toyota part # 90311-35032 so I guess that's the seal I would need for swapping the axle tubes. We're exactly does this seal go. Does it peck into the 3rd member or does it peck into the axle tube?
