My 92 Regular cab dlx pickup with the 22re and 5speed, it squeels really bad on start up and sometimes just going down the road starts squeeling like a witch. What should i check pulleys, belts what?

I'm having the same problem, only squeals on start up though, I thought it was water pump at first, wasn't. I checked and tightened all belts (some were loose) but three days later it started again. Dropping truck off at trusted mechanic this Saturday (busy week coming up, no time to tear into things), will report what final diagnosis is.

Yea let me know what your problem is, im thinking about replacing all my belts. Im just hoping its not harmonic balancer pulley r water pump, cause that would kill my tire budget right now 33 12.50 15 bfg at i plan to put two nankang mudstar they look just like a maxis buckshot. only need two for now two bfg have plenty of tread to last a couple months.

How much are belts? $10-$12 a piece? And you have two if you dont have A/C. Thats cheap. And easy to replace. I've had the power steering idler pulley on my '93 22re explode while driving. That was not much fun. While replacing the belts, check the pulleys for excessive wobble.
Heck, belt(s) could be too loose or too tight...

Sooo i had some free time saturday and was fiddling around with my yoyo, checked the belts i only see one belt tensioner bolt at the very bottom of the motor a lil bracket that looks like if you tighten it it tightens the belts. How tight should the belts be? that looks like it only tightens one belt i cant remember which one, and the belts have been replaced before i got it with gates thinking about getting some toyota belts and seeing if that fixes it. this is the 22re fi if i hadnt mentioned
