'92 4x4 transmission / transfer case question
I have a '92 4x4 pickup 5 speed with a 22RE motor. I have been getting a loud squeeling noise coming from either the transmission or transfer case. I pulled the transmission last year and put in a new clutch and throw out bearing hoping that was the problem but it wasn't so I figure a bearing is probably going out in the transmission or transfer case. I bought a transmission and transfer case out of a '91 with the same engine and transmission set up. The only difference is the the '91 has a cable driven speedo and mine is electronic. Does anyone know how I can convert this? Not sure if it is as simple as just swappint the speed sensors or not.

Just an update for anyone with the same question. I pulled the electronic speedo sending unit out my '92 and put it in the transmission/transfer case('91 cable driven) I bought without issue. It is a very simple process. I removed the 12mm bolt and used channel locks to pull the sending unit out of the '91 tranny and the one from my '92 slide right in. I read that someone had to modify the gear but I am not sure why at this point since both gears have the same Toyota info on them. I plan on getting the tranny put back in this week so I will let everyone know if everything works correctly.
