'92 4runner V6 - misses and dist. noisey
322,200 miles on body, 65,000 on motor.....ever since new long block install I've felt a very slight miss under load only.....now bad miss, jerky....listen to engine and heard dist. very load, used stethascope, louder at top of dist., rough sound compared to engine or valves....pulled but didn't really feel any side to side play in shaft....have tuned up before with no diff.....Do bearings go bad dist. shaft?....What to check next? thanks

Although I know nothing about the V6 I do know that a distributer (spelling?) can wear out. My advice would be to find one in a junk yard and put it in. I don't think that they wear out often enough that you'll grab another bad one but stranger things have happened.

looked at one
Went to nearby junkyard, shaft felt and spins like mine....no cash now....friend is on search with some of his Toyota buds....relistened to mine with stethascope and still sounds to noisey to me... did find a crack in coil wire on top of dist. where the clip to cap is.....the shock told me to look....also replaced 6" elbow hose on pass. side rear, under plenum to some sort of emmission gizmo to exhaust manifold....my discription....didn't make a difference but fixed.....next week hope to 1) try diff. dist....2) new factory cap and rotor...3) exchange wires at Autozone....4) NGK plugs.....figure to eliminate any doubters....best bud is a nissan mechanic who always says factory is parts are best ....not affordable always....if that and dist. change don't do it I'm baffled again....cross them streams when I get to them...

I have a 95 3.0........and welcome to yotatech!
check your cam geat teeth and your oil pump gear drive it may be noisy...causing the vibration up through the dizzy...just a thought
just to let you know my dizzy (distributor) is vary noisy when the engine is running.I can put my hand on it when making the noise and can feel a grinding of some kind, and I also used a stethoscope like you too.
For me I know that my cam gear teeth are in good condition because I just finished a head gasket replacement and had to remove the cams, I had a look at that gear then.I feel like my dizzy gears are bad but when I pulled it out, and checked for something wrong with it, I couldn't feel any grinding when I spun it. I also have another dizzy and it checks out the same,I even installed it a few times and it makes the same noise as the other one
I'm thinking that I need to check the gear for the oil pump next but not sure if I want too....3.0 not fun to work on ask me how I know.....btw I have a brother in Dayton how close are you to Dayton?
