92 4runner cam shaft oil seal leaking
Hello, I was searching threw previous about the cam shaft seal replacement but didn't see a similar problem like I have. I was driving up a hill going about 45 running about 3800 rpms when I started loosing power and dropping rpm and speed I pulled of the road and seen the oil dripping onto the ground I got it towed home and pulled of my timing belt cover and I can see oil leaking from the seal when it is started and it spins I assume this is not supposed to as the other doesn't. I pushed back in and it stopped spinning only briefly. I believe this is my oil leak as I see oil seep out and run down the block. I was wondering if this is why I lost my power because of no oil and a sensor or possibly a valve that got damaged. I've started it again with more oil of course and the seal is where the oil seeps out.
Note: I just installed a new aftermarket air intake and this is the 3vze runner 211k miles

the way you describe it, it sounds like it blew the seal out. check your cam timing, oil on the belt may have caused it to jump which caused the truck to die. obvioulsy the seal needs to be replaced which means the timing belt has to come off anyways, but check timing first. make sure your pcv system is working properly, if its not that could cause seals to pop out.

What is the PVC valve? Also yes it was out of timing and the cams were out of alignment so got them aligned and started running rough now and waiting for the silicon rtv to set up after that how do you time this? Do you use a regular timing light and look for the Tdc on the cam shaft pulley or do you need a diagnostic tool and a special light

You need to jumper out E1 and TE1 on your diagnostic connecter (in the black box on your fender) with a paperclip/piece of wire, hook up timing light to #1 cylinder and check it out.

Ok thanks for your help. I just got it running tonight was 180 off and I took it on the road. Exremly gutless practically was floring it to get up my drive also the intake is making an unusual roaring growling noise. I herd some valve knock so i figure I'm probably off a tooth or 2 on my cam and I can time it in the morning. Any idea on the no power or do you guys just just think its off time a bit
