91 lags power

i have a 91 4runner that i just rebuilt the motor 3.0 and i have to floor it 90% of the time im driving on the freeway to keep it going, and to get it to 60mph just seem like it takes forever... any ideas? i have looked at the cat and it looks good, not sure what it could be.. no check engine light.

Check your timing. You can advance it a little to get a bit more power out of it.

OK i had this similar issue, i had bought the 4 runner and did a complete tuneup, and still didn't help, a complete lack of power.

My fix, i change the fuel filter, its kinda hard to get to but once i changed it was a huge increase in power. my 4runner had 132,000 and i believe what looked like to original fuel filter.

so give it a shot only a few buck and some time can make all the difference. hope it helps.

its an auto and it has they are 31 10.5 tires.

i set the timing where they said to put it and it was almost ready to die and ran like crap so i advanced it a little area but guess i should go a little more,

i took the motor apart except for the pistons from the block. put all new seals and had the valve job,, did a valve adjustment and new timing belt, when i put it back together i double checked the timing before putting covers back on. so i wouldnt think its the timing unless u can get the crank 180 out but i cant see that happening until u put the belt on.
