91 ext cab up and quit, need a little help

UPDATE Son was driving his (my) 91 V6 to school and it just quit, it will crank just fine, no start. I figured it was the timing belt but the rotor turns...good sign so far.

Any thoughts from ya' all.
Thanks,

See if you're getting fuel. There's a relay for the fuel pump that can go just like that. Then, there's the fuel pump itself. Check for spark, too.

Check to see if there are any CEL codes while you're at it.

Wait...let me be a little more specific.

If you turn the key to ignition, you should hear the fuel pump running. Can you?

The fuel pump does not run unless you are cranking the engine, the engine is running, or you jumped the fuel pump terminals of dlc1 / opened the afm door

Yes it will....albeit only for a few seconds. But, good that you brought this up.

Soupertoy...
If you don't appear to be getting fuel, jump the terminals "FP" and "B+" at the diagnostic box and turn the key to ignition. This will bypass the relay switch and the VAM....."hardwiring" the fuel pump. The FP should run continuously now (as jason is saying) and be audible. If it doesn't run, then it's toast. If you can hear it, try and start the vehicle. If the vehicle will run at that point, then there's a problem in the relay or the VAM.

Check O2 Sensor wires...make sure it's not leaning against exhaust pipe and that it does not have a short

Are the wires down in the fuse box good and tight? Any corrosion? Do you have a good ground from the battery to the vehicle body?

EFI fuse? That could be anywhere. The EFI relay sends juice into the fuel pump (CO) relay and the VSV's on the valve cover, and the Ho2 sensor and the AFM. If you have a 12v test light than put it into the dead leg (load side) of the fuse and the clip to the battery positive and start unplugging stuff 'till the light goes out or gets dim. If it is bright, that is the short.

Motor won't start

If you had this problem after a drive in the rain you might want to check and make sure you do not have the windshield leak problem getting the ECU connector wet in the passenger side kick panel , this has been a problem on some trks in previous posts .
If you are getting water draining/leaking in the passenger floorboard when raining it could be the windshield or possibly your cowl vent drain is stopped up thereby not draining and then coming in at kick panel raining down on ECU connector as well .
