91 4Runner Instrument Panel
Hey Everyone,
What an amazing website =)
I have a question to all you out there. I recently acquired a 91 Toyota 4Runner, and am loving it since. I've done my oil change, replaced a few parts, and am looking to get it on the road soon. The only problem is, one of the instrument panel lights aren't working.
I was wondering if anyone had step by step instruments as to how to change the bulbs in the instrument panel (pictures would be nice!), as I'm not a really technically oriented person.
Thanks a bunch!
CJ

Hi Everyone,
It's the Instrumental Panel Gauge (Speedometer, RPM Indicator) that's causing the main problem.
Also..I feel like an idiot posting this, but where's the parking break on the 4runner? I can't seem to find an individual parking brake, as opposed to my other cars
Thanks again everyone!

So, this is going to sound like a weird question but it'll make sense later but is there and after market stereo installed in your runner? If so, there are 2 orange wires in the wiring harness that come from the dimmer switch. I know this because I just swapped stereo's in my '90 because the Pioneer deck that was in there kept overheating and needed to be retired. Those two orange wires are a positive and a ground and you want to make sure that the positive isn't hooked up to anything but the ground is. With the old deck that was in mine, they guy who installed it didn't attach either of those wires to anything, and my speedo and tachometer background lights didn't work because of it. So, just to save yourself a little bit of trouble of tearing apart your dash to get to your light bulbs, take and check tose 2 wires and make sure the ground is for sure grounded out (you can do this by just wiring it into the main stereo ground, that's what I did and didn't have any problems). The positive needs to be snipped and capped, as not to short anything else out. Hope this has been somewhat helpful.
