91 22re rebuild just froze up
I just completely assembled my 22re & installed it in my 4x4 pickup, with a new starter I was excited to rear it come to life, I checked all connections once again and turned the key.The starter was strong and the engine sounded tight and firmly built. It acted like it was going to fire but not that try. Tweek the distributor a smige and hit the key again, two pops from the exhaust and I felt I was almost there. Then the tightly built motor started taking a toll on the starter. Break out the charger, slam a beer ,then try it again. Weak starter I though another beer and try it again. Nothing! So I'm going to check the location of TDC. I couldn't budge it with a 24"bar! WTF?? .I can also push it backwards whilst in first gear!!! What have I done wrong? I was thoroughly cautious when installing the clutch too, what could it be? I'll check my phone from time to time, I worked hard today and I'm have to start another project under a house, so I may not response right away, but thanks for all advice, I put a lot of time, money, blood and sweat into this project and I'm anxious to do some 4wheeling soon.

Timed it wrong and bent the valves?
Suggest pull covers and see where the marks are.
Also did you prime the oilpump and try turning over without the plugs to build pressure and get oil through the engine before stress it.
