'90 Pickup Clutch issue

Hi new here.

I just bought a '90 Toyota pickup with the V6 in it, 5spd, and the guy claims the clutch has recenlty been replaced but you have to push the clutch pedal down really far to get the clutch to disengage.

I mean not even just to the floor is enough, you almost have to dig your toes into it at the floor and push it reall hard, to get it to disengage, it's a real pain to drive. Tranny shifts fine though once you do.

I know this is a hydraulic clutch, but is there a way to adjust the pedal or slave to make it better?

I don't know how long it has been since the master/slave has been bled, will that help?

Thanks.

There is some adjustment that can be made under the dash on the pedal itself. Otherwise make sure the system is properly bled.

well, he probably replaced the clutch, but maybe he did't intall the fork the right way, if you remove the rubber dust boot, with the help of a flashlight, u may see if the fork is engaged to the pivot stud, and the retaining springs r holding the bearing.

91TPU....the clutch engagement is fine, actually really good, it engages right off the floor and engages tight, took me a little while to get used to it, I was chirping it for a little while every time I switched gears, I mean it grabs basically at the floor, which makes me think something isn't adjusted right too.

But it is hard as hell to switch gears, you have to really slam the clutch in hard to be able to switch gears, and just to put it in gear when stopped. Sometimes it takes me a few seconds to get it into first at a light, people start beeping, it sucks!

I have driven plenty of 5spds and never felt a clutch like this, most of the 5spds I've had before you don't even have to go to the floor to disengage the clutch, and I've had 3 other Toyota truck 5spds.

75k5toy......I have no idea what you said, haha...I wouldn't know what the fork was engaged to even if I did look in there.

The guy I bought it from didn't seem to think there was anything wrong, he said it's always been like that, but I know it's not right. I drive 3 blocks and my left leg is killing me, not good.

Thanks.

Ok. Let me try a diferent way, I had a similar problem after We replaced the clutch on my truck, it was hard to put in gear, we bled the 2 cylinders, and gave all the adjustment on the pedal like Terminator said, after that, the shifting was not to bad, but still when the truck was stopped, to put it on first or reverse, o man, sometimes i had to shut it off. two months later, i got sick and tired of it. I dropped the tranny, and gess what? the pivot stud was broken, it broke because we did't set the fork right.
