90-95 4Runner TAG ( Formerly KMA ) Rear Bumper

So long story short...

4g63rotary parted out his 4Runner and he contacted me about this rear bumper he had ( I was always ehh about ordering it from the original maker because of the long wait period ) So needless to say, I bought it and he had this sucker shipped up to me. He was extremely cool with shipping needs/requests and very prompt on everything. He definitely made this happen. He also sent me with a cable, and the nuts/bolts to install and extra's just in case.

I know these bumpers are getting kind of rare nowadays because of the shipping wait. So i figured i'd make an own thread for us 2nd gen owners

I put this sucker on right when it showed up! Now on for the pictures

its arrival at 1:15

the packaging ( my phone focused on the lit section of the picture )

upwrapped

2 1/2 hours of anguish, its installed ( this thing was a heavy SoB and required 3 people for installation. )

Heres a full view of the truck ( no sag )

Fully loaded ( sags a little, and the can is empty )

whats on it: 48" hi lift jack ( the black handle had to be shortened 2" to fit and clear ) 33x10.50 BFG km1, empty cheap jerry can and 2 clevis shackes

and a picture of the sag

All in all. Im extremely please with the whole thing! it matches the body lines, it fits real good, its got the "tank' feel to it. and its beefy as crap! I also finally have a receiver hitch which my truck was naked with one from the factory.

I'm gonna fab a little license plate bracket and light to it at work on monday.

Next for mods will definitely have to be a pair of 901 coils and some shocks to go with it. that bumper weighs 165 lbs by itself... add a tire, a full can and a hi jack... theres some poundage on it

That looks really good, and expensive. I feel silly, but I can't find a link to TAG or KMA on the web. Do yall have a link? Mak, your truck has come a long way and it's looking really tough nowadays!

I heard of a cheap Air Springs set up, using small basket balls inside your coils. Foot balls might work as well. I am not sure how durable this setup would be or how much air pressure the sports balls can handle. The Option is cheap and could be a fun experiment

That bumper does look really good. I need to start my build thread.

haha thanks guys.

I definitely need a rear lift. if I stand on it, my tires stuff the wheel well, so all my camping gear is gonna make things difficult without a lift haha

lol honestly, i dont know how much it weighs with the other crap on it. i know it weighs 165 by itself though. if i had to guess, if the tire was fully pumped, the can was full and the hi jack on it. id say close to 275 ish. ( 901 coils can carry 300+ lbs while still giving 3" of lift. )

thanks guys. despite all the issues my rig has been giving me lately. this really made it "pop". I haven't modded the runner in almost 4-5 months... so i felt this was the icing on the cake now i just gotta finish it with cherries on top by adding a ballin' ass roof rack.

I've already had a couple mishaps with the rear swing out... the latch assembly is a bit touchy, and if you dont hammer it down, or step on it. it swings out while you're driving :o found this out twice today.

also, I loaded the rig down with a couple black totes filled with basic camping gear. and this is what it looks like

901 OME coils and shocks will definitely need to be installed.

Wow!

I wish they made something similar for the truck. I don't really like the tube style bumper, but then again, there's no wrap around piece on the truck rear bumper.

I wish I had known I could have mounted a 10.5" tire on the stock skinny spare rim...I wouldn't have sprung for a spare Cragar.

if you're looking for the plated style bumper on a truck. you can buy one with a swing out and have the tube protection welded on through a fab shop.
