Update from this morning:
Got home this afternoon after having to abandon it on the side of the road this morning. I returned to the place i left it and tried to start it again, and it started. It was only a couple of blocks from my home, so I drove it home. I let it idle/warm up for a while to see if it would die again. Was about to turn it off and call it a night, and when I closed the hood it shut off immediately. And of course, would not start again. What could be going on? I only drove a couple of blocks this morning and it died. There's some more background below of events before this morning.

My 90 4runner, 3VZE, recently decided to quit working.
Except not all the time.
Basically, it'll be running find, sounding fine, and then it will just die. No hesitation or anything before it dies.
I've checked the compression and it looks good. Checked to make sure the fuel pump is functioning, using the diagnostic box under the hood.
And the spark looks good too.

Any suggestions as to what i should look for next time it dies...since when it's running, I dont really expect to find the problem.

The other day, it died all of a sudden as describe, and after about 15 minutes of sitting there I tried to crank it over again and it started. This morning, I started it and it drove for about 2 minutes and died. I had to get to work so it's still sitting there. Anyways, any help or suggestions of what I should look for would be very much appreciated.
