90 4runner 22re to 22r: Hesitation/Bogging

My 22re was converted to carbed(22r). I installed a new 38 weber and did some rejetting and seems to be dialed in pretty good. Also installed a new distributor w/ vacuum advance. I have the vac lines to the distrubtor routed like THIS All works well except I can't seem to shake a bit of occasional bogging I sometimes get when first getting on the throttle between gear changes(more so in higher gears at lower speeds). I initially thought it was idle jets too lean, thus having the idle mixture screw too far in, but ruled that out with some rejetting(carb tuning).

I noticed that when I set the base timing to around 5* advance with no vac lines on distributor the bogging/hesitation is less prevalent, but does ping in the upper RPM ranges and greater load(going up hill). I just dialed it down to the 0* BTDC with no vac on distributor(8* w/ vac on distributor) and not pinging, but hesitation more prevalent.

What I've noticed, and would like to see if this is common or not, is when I "blip" the throttle to bring up RPM, the ignition timing will drop back to 0* before picking back up. Is this normal?

I understand how the 22r vac advance works, but just unsure if 0* timing when trying to get up and go is a normal function for these motors, or motors in general. Is it?

I'm also wondering if the 22re computer might have something to do with it. Perhaps not having sensors like the TPS, MAF, etc. may have the 22re ECU putting out a funky ignition signal.

How about some wiring schematics from a factory 22r 4runner? Wanna see what the differences are between 22r and 22re(1990 4runner) ECU pinouts mainly.

Not 100% here, just going from memory. I think the 22r had a comp ratio of 9.0:1 and the 22re is 9.3:1. This may be enough to throw something off if you put an old carb on a 22re. Just a thought, maybe someone else knows more about this.

It's a brand new Redline 38 Weber kit for the 22r, but sure just being carb'd is an older design.

I'm thinking this more a timing issue where the timing shouldn't drop as low as the bottom end of the base timing when "blipping" the throttle.
