90 4 runner

Hello guys, i just bought a 90 4 runner with the 3.0l engine and it doesnt seem to have much get up and go and the pedal is real stiff. Is there anything i can check or do to get it to have more pick up and what can i do to make the pedal feel less stiff.

there is three cables hooked to the throttle area, one of the cables run back to the trans, it comes from passenger side and to the throttle, when adjusted right with throttle open full there is a stop on the cable (copper piece) is 1mm from the end of the rubber boot cover .

ok it looks like it needs adjusting, but i dont have a copper piece there like you where saying just two nuts. The nut looks like it is almost a quater of an inch from the boot,im assuming you are talking about the right side of the bracket with the rubber boot? Im still trying to figure out the lack of power it seems to have.I took it out today and pushed the o/d button to turn it off and it seems to have a little more get up and go,im sure thats just because of the way it shifts, not having the o/d on.Im new to toyotas i have never owned one before so bare with me.

so if u take the cable inside that cable and pull it u will see a copper piece. when u have the throttle wide open that copper should be 1mm past boot, i would go take a pic but i just swapped to a 5 speed.

Well thanks to craigslist i have traded 8 vehicles in the past year.I started with a 90 ford f-250,then to a 83 chevy van, then to a bronco ii,with a 2.8 engine. Then traded the bronco ii for a full size bronco with a 351 cleveland, traded the bronco for a geo storm that had been lowered.traded the storm off for a 93 blazer 4.3 vortec engine, then traded the blazer off for a 83 bronco ii with a 5.0 efi,and that for the toyota 4runner.So i have had many different vehicles and all with different engines and none that feel like the toyota. Feels like there should be more there. (
