Question 89 toyota 4x4 xcab with 4runner engine

i just bought a 1989 toyota 4x4 xcab 5 speed manual that had a 1994 toyota 4runner auto put into it... i have found vacuum lines that go nowhere and wires that connect to nothing and i was wondering does anyone have and ideas on how i can check verify all parts and make sure this thing is put together correctly ... i mean i drives ok but my gas milage went from 20 when i bought it to about 10... i don't know what is wrong... granted i am trying a few things and they may work but ... man trying to find whats correct and not is troublesome... please any input would be great
