Well, I would recommend finding some buckets from a 3rd generation pickup like yours. That's what I did and it worked pretty well. For each seat, three of the four bolt holes lined up perfectly. And I just left it like that. If you wanted to add the fourth hole it would be easy to do. But I would stick to Toyota seats for a relatively easy application. Also, the stock Toyota center console can be modded to fit in the gap between the seats once finished.
A lot of guys have done a number of different seats from various makes and models but they involve a lot more fabrication than I would want to do just for a pair of seats. To each his own. . . . . .
Good luck, and post some pictures if you find a set that you put in there.

thanks sam, i havent been able to find any seats that would drop in so to speak. i have seats out of camrys accords neons and a few small car seats that are fairly reasonably priced and in good shape. i didnt know how difficult a mod would be on a seat frame to attach to a slider. thanks again

What color are the seats you have in your truck and would you be Interested in selling them? And if so what condition are they in and does anybody know if they'd fit in a single cab 86?

i am replacing mine for a reason.... its shot! its light blue/gray ish. but driver side is all dry rotted, and falling apart. i use my truck to do my run arounding in, and i do alot of hunting out of it. just thought buckets would be a better choice, and access into back seat would be much easier.

4Runner buckets are pretty much plug n play. I ran a pair I got from a junkyard for a while, but I jumped on Toyota MR2 buckets when I got the chance. Brackets take a little bit of work, but well worth it.
I didn't drill holes in my floor, instead I built a little bracket that allowed me to use the stock holes.
Sorry, blanking on the thread I posted my seat swap in at the moment...
This is a write-up of how he did it.
