Hello. I was wondering, since you posted a few years ago, did it end up being the shift fork? My 89 5spd, 4wd p.u. was running fine. Then it stopped liking to shift while running. Then I parked it and left it in reverse on my inclined driveway (so it couldn't go AWOL) and now it won't shift out of reverse. I thought it was a possible hydraulic problem so I replaced the M.Cylinder and slave, but nada. Also and btw, the clutch pedal won't return. Just stays on the floor til I pick it up with my fingers. Pooor sad truck needs love. But first I have to get it ready for the tow-truck. Which means OUT OF REVERSE Help!

Unbolt the rear driveshaft. Put the driveshaft in the bed, put the nuts and bolts in the glove compartment. Off you go.

Uh, Block wheels first, and make sure that the service brakes are working.

Oh yeah, I blocked it up when I was working on the M and S cylinders. Thanks, guys. I was trying to think of what I could winch the thing to to get the weight off the gears and it was headed to sketchville. thanks again
