89 pickup pinion seal

Have an 89 Pickup 22RE
Noticed pinion seal was leaking this weekend and I changed the seal, still leaks. Could I need new u joints, can that cause the seal to leak?

A plugged breather could do it.

well just unbolt it from the housing and flush it with deisel fuel works for me anyways or ya just could always make a remote breather
use a fiting that looks kinda like a xmas tree some rubber hose and one of those k&n style breathers
and if the vent isnt cloged take a look at your pinion bearings

yeah, toyota calls for something like 145 lbs of torque, didn't have a torque wrench so i just snugged it then gave it a little more.. i could have over torqued. but it would feel like my parking brake is on, right? could I have messed up the pinion bearings.

youll want to keep a close eye on your rear wheel bearings as well. gear oil has a nasty tendency to wash out all the grease and foul your rear brake shoes in the process.
