'89 DLX 4x4 Alternator and Warning lights?
Ok, Have owned my '89 DLX Pickup with v6, auto tranny for 22 years with very minor problems and I have done most of the repairs. Noticed whining noise comming from the tranny the other day. Pulled the stick and she was a little low so added what fluid I had which wasn't much. Drove her about 60 miles and the AT warning light came on along with the battery and brake warning lights. Pulled over at an Exon and poured a qt of dexron !! in. Whinning stopped and all seemed well. On the way back had to cut headlights on and noticed that they along with the interior lights were starting to dim. Tried to get her back to the garage but she died on me at an intersection. I'm pretty sure that its the alternator. Charged the battery and she is holding a charge. Now for the warning lights, they are still on. I thought that by disconnecting the battery and waiting a few seconds and then reattaching would cause the sensor/s to reset but they are still illuminated. I haven't had the time yet to swap out the alternator but I'm wandering that once done that the warning lights will cut off. Any ideas?

I don't know about the AT light, but the batt/brake combo is pointing to a bad alternator. Mine only had the battery light when my rectifier went poopoo. Check grounds, too, all of them. My buddy's truck popped the batt/brake after a shakedown on the dunes. Loose ground, in that case.
