No neutral light on this model, just a position indicator on the shifter. Fluid level is perfect.

It does sound like the transmission then, rather than the transfer case. Nothing in the transfer case would gradually start to slip - it would either be fully engaged or completely in neutral.

I can't help you much with auto transmissions. Check out the FSM link that was just posted. Hopefully that will help.

It is a tricky one because the tcase has a separate oil pump, don't want to give any one false hope, possibly could be an issue with that pump and or pick up for that pump
