89 22re fuel problem NO START HELPPPP!!
Trying to make a long story short. .I swapped a 89 22re into a 83 pickup and im using the harness and everything that came off the motor. the motor ran great when removed. I have everything hooked back up, and when I crank the motor it dosent start . So heres where im at, I have strong spark at all cylinders, I checked my injectors with a noid light and there all flashing, I installed a inline fuel pump rated at 50psi and its pumping good gas. Now when I spray starting fluid in the intake It starts right up and runs off that. One of my questions is I checked my fuel pressure at the fuel rail and I also have 50psi there. Is that right?? Other then that im stumped an REALLY would like some advice.

Make sure all of the grounds are hooked up, and check your fuses, if everything checks out then check the solenoid resister and see if its good. I had a problem similar to this on my 86 4Runner, i had fuel and spark and all the relays checked out, but no start. It would try and start if i sprayed carb cleaner in the throttle body but no start, so i had a solenoid resister laying around and decided to try it as a shot in the dark that it would work, and to my suprise my truck started after i replaced it.

After trying to start, how do the spark plugs look? Are they wet / fouled or dry?
50 PSI is a tad high for fuel pressure- should be about 38-45 PSI. Considering you do have pressure in the rail, I wonder if the excessive pressure might be holding the injectors closed...?

All grounds seem to be good. When I pulled the plugs they were a little black but they were a little old to start so I dont know if they got worse with my problem. The weird thing is they also had a hint of gas smell on them. I was also wondering if to much pressure would not alow my injectors to open. but everything else checks out like I said, a little starting fluid in the intake and it starts and runs great for a couple seconds. Also another thing, everytime I hit the key the motor pops once real quick like it wants to fire, then just cranks.

Timings good. Like I said it ran great when removed. Also I cleaned the plugs real good but they also worked good when the motor was removed. I think i've narrowed it down to an electrical/injector issue. how do I check the solenoid resister??
