88 pickup losing power

I have a 88 pickup 22re m/t. I finished plowing my house (truck running for about an hour +) drove to my parents house to plow, just before I got there the charge light came on and the truck died immediatly. I tried to start it but it would only crank for a second (like a dead battery). I waited about 5 minutes and just for haha's I tried again and it started like nothing was wrong cranked perfect all electronics working good and plow working good. I made about two passes plowing and the same thing happened (ran for maybe 5 minutes) So I left it there went out and got a new alternator and belts, installed started right up drove the truck about 10 feet and the same thing. It almost feels like something is taking away about half the voltage. I turned the plow off and all other electronics lights, heat etc. made no difference. I noticed the 4th time this happen kind of a clicking sound right before everything died coming from the right fender area. There is a finned aluminum regulator of some sort next to the starter relay, I have a parts truck so I swapped it and all has been fine? sorry if that was drawn! Any input on what might have caused this or what I swapped.

Ok so that fixed nothing. I was sitting in my truck and noticed the radio flicker off and the heater wasnt blowing anymore truck then sputtered a bit and died like somebody shut off the fuel. I tried to re-start but would only crank maybe a 1/4 revolution and then nothing. I tried this a few times with no luck, waited about 20 minutes and it started right up. Do these have an external voltage regulator? Has anybody else had this problem.
