88 Pickup Heater Controls

Recently purchased a 88 Pickup. Replaced a bunch of parts so far. Working on getting it back to top notch condition. I have never owned one of these before so its pretty new for me. I am looking for some help in regards to the heater controls. I have been searching for replacement heater controls on the internet. I have not taken the dash apart yet. Basically my temperature lever is broke completely off and the vent selection (dash, floor, or defrost) lever is jammed up to the point that i am not sure what is going on with it. Could someone shed some light this component? I cannot find one anywhere for sale on the internet. I understand the levers are connected to cables? Do you have to replace the entire unit or do you get new cables and levers? Also any problems i should look for? Any additional help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Josh

Be aware that these control rods do have adjustments available to fine-tune the position. It is possible that the the rods have slipped off the spring mount, or that the spring mount is broken itself. Not likely, but possible.

Ditto on going to the junk yard to find one.

If you don't how to get to it, you can access it by first removing the face plate. It is only press fit in place. It has these "fingers" as I will call them on the far right and left on the face plate. They are on the short vertical part of the face plate, not on the long horizontal part. You can take a small flat-head screwdriver to pop it out.

There not so much a cable as they are a small flexible solid rod within a plastic sleeve. The ones that control the vent direction are white in color, the one that controls the water valve at the firewall in the engine compartment is blue in color.
