88 4runner won't Start what is this wire HELP !
My 88 4runner wouldnt start this morning and I mean it was dead no electrical nothing. Then after a little poking around I noticed a burnt up wire coming from the fuse box under the hood by the battery. The other end of the burnt up wire snakes into the engine.
So my questions are:
1)What is this wire and what does it do?
2) Does this have a part number or is it just a case of splicing wire ?
3) How do I fix this? What would cause this wire to fry?
The P.O made a lot of spagetti factory wiring mods under the hood.
Any Help or input PLEASE !!!!!

It's a 22re the wire comes out of the bottom of the fuse box under the hood by the battery. It used to connect to this round plastic rubber thingy that snakes into the engine. I hope these pics and details help clear things up !

I think your a bit confused, that wire does not go to that round plastic thing. The round thing is part of the throttle stop for the throttle body, it keeps the throttle from slamming shut when you let off the gas, no wires to to it at all. I think someone just stuck the wire in the end of it, and it finally fell out. I do see one major problem though, in post #6 the top picture shows the blue wire from the battery to the fuse box, that is the main power wire from the battery to the fuse box, and it looks like someone has replaced it at some point and the wire they used is way to small, it should be as heavy as the white wire next to it, so you need to replace it. Also check the 80 amp fuse, if its bad your truck will have no power at all. Most trucks and 4Runners that ive seen only have one main fuse in the fuse box by the battery, its possibly a previous owner added another fuse and that wire ran to some accessories that are no longer there.
