Welcome dudee! Newb as well haha and just picked one up. Mine will either be on the ceiling above the rear view mirror or at the base of the center console in behind the shifter.

this is why i like this forum so much, all you guys are quick to respond for help, thanks 4runninmuds for your idea-as you know there isn't very much room in a 1st gen 4runner with stick, but your idea is something to think about, once again thanks alot.

No problemo man, that is the reason i love this site so much as well. Personally I like the up high feel...kinda like youre rolling a semi or something when you reach up for the mic and check in haha

There are a heck of a lot of threads about this. But since I'm here, I might as well answer the question because I'm a nice guy.

Depending on the size of the CB, you can do the following:
1. Take the ashtray out and mount it in its place
2. Mount it on glovebox door. Doesn't restrict passenger leg room.
3. Mount it under steering column.
4. Mount it on passenger side of the center console facing up.
5. Mount it to the front of the driver seat facing up, between legs (my idea, haven't tried it yet).
6. Roof mount (though a PITA).
7. Mount in glovebox (also a PITA when going to use).
8. Mount it outside on the door (easy to use controls and frees up interior space. However, it would be tacky and it would get shorted out by the first rainfall. I recommend not acting on this suggestion as it is only a joke).

you can also remove the blank under your radio and mount it there.

Best place in on the front of the glovebox at an angle and tilts towards the driver and get the metal hook for the back of the mic at a truck stop and get some mini bungies too and rig up a trucker style hanging mic off your rear view mirror, or get the chrome hook that mounts on the dash "it's a flat base around 1 1/4 by 1 1/4 with a hook sticking out" with 3M tape and get that large hook that goes around the round thing on back of mic and hang mic off front of dash.

Mounting on the front of the GB is the way to go and the mic and that large hook on the back there are all kinds of ways to hang it from, even on like a grab handle on the 89-95 trucks on passenger side pillar, just play around you'll find your nich and preference :} Good Luck and Have Fun :}

Thought I would throw mine out there.

I have the Cobra all in one CB, the entire radio is in the handset, there is no deck. It does come with a little module that you put under your dash that takes the antenna wire and 12V power. This has a customer multipin connector on it that connects to the handset. I put the module up with my radio in the dash and the little dongle that comes out of it is accessable up under there. I screwed the handset clip into the center console, below the armrest, on the front. When I want the CB, I connect it to the dongle and hang it on the clip. When I do not want it, which is most of the time, I stow it in a bag in the glove box.

Also, the little module has an analog output on it, so you can route the CB into your car speakers through your deck, if your deck takes an analog input.
