Marinized 1KD-FTV

Alright here are some pics, sorry for the cell phone shots, didn't realize how blurry they were till i got home to upload them.

This is the 200hp model, making torques in the 400ftlbs range. There are three flavors, 165hp, 180hp, and 200hp. The only difference is the ECU flash from NanniDiesel. I was also told that Toyota just gave NanniDiesel the go ahead for a new ECU tweak...wait for it....260hp/500+ftlbs!!! Same exact engine.
I was also told that in the next year and a half Toyota will be releasing diesels to the US(we'll see).

The tape measure is there for my reference of course.

This engine has an ECU that doesn't care about the VSS(this could be a solution when i try to install this beast.

yes 100amp alternator

nice oil filter adapter with a drain tube for catching spilt oil upon removal

Different oil pan option then on the auto version

Waste gated turbo, non variable vain. So ECU doesn't monitor turbo(not sure if this is good or bad)

Fuel Cooler, hooked to fresh water intake

Side showing fuel filter connection to fuel cooler

URrrrrrmph........... Sorry, I think I just threw up a lil in my mouth from excitement! hahaha....

WOW, 260HP???? That'd be nice.....

Far as the "for the US"..... I believe the Diesel Tundra is out this coming year, no? Not sure how they'd hide it after that, right? lol. "WE WANT OUR DEEEEEZL'S AND WE WANT EM NOW!!!!" lol.

Best wishes, KILL IT! lol

Ive seen lots of rumors but no confirmation on the tundra. Seems the plan is to release the V8 D-4D 322hp, haven't seen anything on the 4cyl D-4D.

Now I'm looking at sourcing an engine from Europe. Mainly I find write-offs so I need to see if a dismantled would cut one apart for me.

So was this just for measurements or are you going to try and adapt a marine engine? I think the halfcut would still be the best but you can only work with what you can get.

edit: Nevermind. You beat me.

Halfcut is preferred. But keep in mind It's the same engine found in the other parts of the world, minus water cooled manifolds (intake, turbo, exhaust, Trans, fuel).

this was me most of the afternoon:

Code:
while (time<4:40pm) {
--refresh();
--lookfor(pics);
}
if you do end up using the marine diesel, you seriously need to keep it blue

260/500? SWEET!... wonder if that ecu flash would work in a non marine engine?
I'm guessing it probably would for a manual tranny install... might be too many parameters different for a slushbox...

Engine looks good in blue...

Mos def keep it blue.
The marine ecu is flashable, but not in the way to change it to higher up, sorry for the confusion. The marine ecu can be tweaked as I understand, bu for the higher bp range you need to purchase the ecu. I'm guessing it's a few $$.

Dang, that's a sweet looking engine. What are these Marine motors put into? DIOdn't even know they were made.

Oh and "Waste gated turbo, non variable vain. So ECU doesn't monitor turbo(not sure if this is good or bad)" , it still might, is this a MAP (Manifold Air Pressure) type engine or is it still AFM/MAF?

^^^ good question. I don't know, it's a diesel... Cram as much air in each stroke as possible, then figure out fuel mix... I guess. I'm still learning and researching.

Yeah I don't know much about the diesels, in addition to my MAP comment the way I understand it, most things with a diesel are done via the EGT sensor. I want to say these things don't even have an 02 sensor to worry about. But I could be wrong.

Many diesels do not have an egt sensor. That is really an aftermarket sensor addition when you are adding more boost, and intercooler tweaks from what I understand.

What I meant was the "flashed" mariine ecu controlled engine could be used in a non-marine {truck} application. Sometimes the ecus are application specific due to sensor inputs being there or not...

These Marine diesels would be used in workboats/fishing vessles and the like... possibly as re-powers in pleasure boats.
