I have all of the sensors and devices attached to the ECU and engine, not to mention the immobilizer, gauge cluster(for VSS) and the entire vehicle wire harness. I also have TechStream software that will let me diagnose any electrical issues, and test engine sensors. This engine is a late 2006, so it has no watercooled egr, and a simpler immobilizer system.
The good news is that I inspected the oil screen on the sump and it was free of any oil globs that can plague this engine from faulty injector washers.
Found some damaged wires that were all burned together like they were resting on the exhaust. They have since been repaired
Checked the timing belt, brand new. This engine is very clean (on the outside), but I haven't scoped the pistons and cylinders. I'll get that once I get it running.

Funny, I was just talking to Irab88 last night about this....Short answer is no. I have been working on getting my bike maintenance wrapped up so I can ride this season. I still need to order a fuel-filter assembly, radiator and battery before I can start it up. After I confirm it runs I will freshen up the engine before I install it.

Thanks guys,
No real update, my 92 2wd DD ate the water pump last week so I have been catching up on some maintenance on that truck. Hopefully, I'll have some parts here in the next month to test and diagnose a running engine.
Recently a fellow from Sydney contacted me about my suspension setup, and he is doing the same swap as I am. Well, he is actually swapping in the 1KD and then shooting for 400whp. I will be looking to install this lump totally stock, then perhaps play with a few mods while maintaining the reliability.

Sounds like you've got a good plan. Sorry your DD is out.
Does he have a build thread anywhere?

Hey guys. Just been reading the thread. I'm in New Zealand and have recently had my 2008 Hilux written off. I have ordered a new 2016 Hilux to replace it. But have also bought the wreck of my 08 back off the insurance company. I have also agreed to buy a 94 single cab. Beam axle Hilux. Which I plan to put the 1kd into. If you need any help getting parts or. Want me to check things on my written off truck. As it's still complete. I'm happy to do so.

Sorry to hear your Lux took a nap on the road. Nice that you can get solid axle trucks up to 96 iirc. I'll pm you with my email and info as there are a few small parts I need and wreckers won't reply to me. Thanks for the offer and I'm certainly up for finding parts for you if you need also.

You can look on www.trademe.co.nz. That's our. "eBay". If there are any auctions there you see I can do some pricing. Just let me know what you're after

No real update, I'm ordering a radiator and fuel free housing that is essential to starting the lump. Been slow going because I need to get my 2wd pickup reliable so when I tear down the runner I have a vehicle I don't have to worry about needing a repair. I should be in full swing this fall. I am pretty sure I saw one of these engines for sale in eBay, in the states, which is rare. Or locate a wrecker in Australia to send you a package. If you find an engine look for one that has the older egr setup. This should be an engine before 2007, the newer models have a more suffisticated egr and emissions setup. The newer models may also make it more difficult to calibrate the sensors and immobilizer, essential for running the engine. There is a company in Australia that can make a harness to defeat the immobilizer.
I really want to get this lump swapped in immediately, but I want to start the engine and freshen it up before I stuff it in the runner.
