87 XtraCab, What seats fit?

well... basicly what the title says. I have an 87 XtraCab pickup and I'm thinkin of ditching the factory basic brown vinyl bench and putting in some buckets. I don't think I want to go with sparco, cobras, or any kind of race-buckets. I think I'd want to stick with something that looks at least semi-stock.

I found some tan sr5 buckets from a 97 taco and some grey 05-08 taco seats, would these just bolt in or are the tracks just way off from the factory 87 mounts? What seats can I expect to just bolt in besides what was available in '87?

I found this site to be a good guide

http://www.customtacos.com/tech/index.php?article=168

I myself went w/ some 99 heated, leather Subaru outback seats:clap

That seat guide is a good jumping off point but doesn't have any 84-88 examples unfortunately.

don't physically have the seats to measure unfortunately

The front seem to fit it seems the rear holes are the problems, for me the Subaru seats have a vertical inside rear mounting surface as if it were to mount to the tranney tunnel.
The yotas have a horizontal or flat to the floor mounting holes.

Best of luck

hmmm, good to know. I don't think there is a HUGE difference between mounting holes on your 89 to my 87. I may go that route with some subaru buckets. thanx

Don't do that, you already have nice new toyota seats! line up the front brackets, and drill a hole through your pan for the back ones. Quick and easy!

But if you do mount the subaru ones, let me know if you want to sell those other seats. I go to SB often....

I just installed some seats from a 92 pickup with no problems. The holes lined up perfect. I think they're the same up until 95.

95+ tacoma seats require new mounts. The angle of the front mounts is wrong (45 vs. 90) and the inboard rear mount on the Tacoma seats is sideways, instead of down through the floor. Can it be modified? Of course. I personally like those 97 Tacoma seats. They are the most comfy, and have the most adjustment.

Newer trucks seats are hard and boring.

I have to agree 100% with deathcougar. My SR5 seats that are fully adjustable in my 4runner slap on my tacoma's seats, and their about 15 years apart in age! Toyota goes forward on some stuff and backwards on other stuff lol
