87 4runner sas, finally starting the build
after thinking about it for a few months i've decided to do a solid axle on my 87 4runner rather than a long arm kit. im trying to price it out and i wanted to make sure im not missing anything as well as get a couple of questions answered.
i know i need: 84-85 solid front axle
longer driveshaft
landcruiser style rotors
springs
spring hangers
shackles
shackle hangers
shocks
u bolts
extended brake lines
What about: crossover steering?
wheel spacers?
now, i have damn near brand new skyjacker 0-1" lift rear springs on my truck now and i have big chevy springs going on the rear when i do the lift. so is it possible to use those stock rear springs up front? any idea how much lift that would give me? or would they not be strong enough for the front of the truck?
i'll also be doing gears, probly 5.29, and a rear locker. maybe a limited slip up front? the closest big place to wheel for me is rousch creek and thats 3 or 4 hours away so i need to be able to street drive this truck.
any input is appreciated. also, if anyone has info on good places to get all the stuff i need i could use some help on that too. im on a tight budget so im trying to go used with what i can and do as much of my own fabrication as possible.
thanks!

The RUF (rears up front) conversion is very common, hell even I just did it. Check out Pirate for tons of info on it. Gonna need crossover steering for the SAS and you can either run wheel spacers or convert to ifs hubs to make the front track width match the rear.
There are lots of good places to buy, but don't forget to take shipping into account when shopping around.

I would look at what's included in a SAS kit if you're going to put it together yourself. I really don't know how much money you could save searching out all those parts individually.
