Thumbs down 87 22re wont rev over 2200rpm????

what a headache, i have a 85 extracab 4x4 that had an automatic trany and a 22re with a bad crank. I installed a 5spd trany and had 22re out of an 87 pickup completly rebuilt. After all the work i drove the truck daily for about a month with no problems. Now it will not rev over 2200rpms, i have replaced the tps and am some what sure it is not the problem, also tried a diffrent air flow sensor, and installed a new fuel pump and filter. hopefully some has a better ideal than me

I see you've replaced your TPS, just curious, you adjusted it, right?

It's my understanding they can't be put in. They must be adjusted in.

Does it cut-out (like a rev box) at 2,200 like it's an electrical issue? Or is it smooth like a air, fuel or clog issue?

I did adjust the new tps per specs on 4crawler. I believe it to be electrical,it runs very smooth at idle and anywhere else below 2200rpms. I also checked the timing.

Does it pop and spit under load or do RPM's climb nicely, just stop at 2200.....

Starts spuddering over 2200?

The rpms do climb nicely, it does have a tendency to backfire a bit. When the rpms get to 2200 it cuts out completely, no spuddering, then it will return to an idle.

I think I would change the fuel filter.

Do you have tools to check fuel pressure?

Is the check engine light on?

It is a fairly new filter since the rebuild, but I will try that. It was throwing the tps code before I changed it but nothing now.
