So, start up the motor and run it at a fast idle to break in the cam. Starts right up and runs smooth. After about 5-8 min, once the motor warms up it dies. Won't start again until it cools down. Can anyone help with this issue?

I would start with your ignition coil, also check your fuel filter

I checked to see if I was getting spark from my coil an sure enough, it was dead. Replaced the coil and fired her up. Ran longer this time than it ever has. Did eventually do the same thing. I've check every that every play is connected. Is it one of the sensors in the cooling system?

next i'd go with your distributor. examine for burnt up spinny thing (i forget its name)

Word! Got her going good. Purrs like a kitten. I took it out in the highway and it did have a weird hiccup. It seem that after I was giving her some throttle to get up to speed the engine got stuck at a very high idle for a bit. About 3000 rpm. It settled down eventually. The throttle wasn't stuck. It seemed to be a symptom that occurred after a period of heavy throttle. Any thoughts?

it's called a reluctor ring. egr sticky or bad diaphragm? sticky vafm plate?

yea you're getting out of my area of expertise (i don't have none of that fancy FI knowledge).

when checking your throttle linkage let it out REAAAALLY slow to see if it sticks

Hmmm. That's a good possibility. I did have to relocate the egr diaphragm. Now instead of sitting horizontal it is sitting vertical. I can imagine how that would cause the diaphragm to stick.
