87 22RE Check Engine Light but no Codes?
Hey everyone!
I have an early (pretty sure it's 87) 22RE with a CEL light that is always on.
Just got it running for the first time.
When I jump E1 and TE1 I just get the constant fast flash indicating no codes present.
The light comes on a few seconds after I have fired up the engine.
I had a number 5 CEL for O2 sensor, replaced that and that code is no longer there. I disconnected the battery for 10+ minutes while I replaced it so shouldn't have any stored codes.
Any bright ideas for a beginner to try to narrow this down? Or is there something really basic I am missing?
Thanks!

Disconnecting the battery for that period of time should clear ECM trouble data/codes. Its not always the case however. The best way to clear codes is to remove the EFI fuse for about 30 seconds and reinstall.
If the MIL is still illuminated then there is indeed a fault and codes are not being read/seen correctly (human error) and or an ECM fault may be present commanding MIL illumination all the time, which is awefully rare.
FSM States if the MIL lamp stays on with the engine running "the diagnosis system has detected a malfunction in or abnormality in the system."
Said code No.1..? Lamp blinks once every 4.5 seconds..? (With terminals T and E1 jumped..?)
Code No.1 appears when none of the other codes are identified.
