87 22R occasional spark

Got an 87 2wd 22R barebones interior, no cruise,AC or clutch start cancel

Rolls over fine, has 12v going into igniter, 12v from igniter to coil, 12v from coil to dist cap but only sparks once in awhile. Swapped out coil, cap, distributor, wires and plugs with ones from a running truck. still no success. Read many of the posts about igniter failure, and wondering how to check the signal wires from the distributor to the igniter? Any thoughts or ideas?

One other thing I failed to mention. The 30,40 and 80 amp were all blown when I got it. Have since replaced with no issues with them

Here's everything I know about igniters:

As you can see, testing them is not for the faint-of-heart. Let us know what you learn.

Awesome write up! Beyond my level of electronics for sure Appreciate it tho! Found a correct coded used Igniter locally for cheap so I'm going to give that a try in the morn. Tracing wires and schematics, is there anything else that would tell it not to discharge the coil? Need to find me the FSM. Thanks again. Will update my learnings

It appears the igniter is in good working order. No spark Found the ground wore for the head had fallen off, cleaned and secured , still no spark. I'm going to take a look at the ignition switch, starter wires and harness coming from the Alt today. Has to be something simple, not much to these trucks!

Ign module I got from junk yard must have been junk lol. Said to hell with keeping it all yota and put in the Gm 4post ign and old style round can coil. Fired right up!! Now on to the list of needs to get it back on the road and sold to help fund the ongoing build up of the 93
