87 22r distributor won't seat.
Just got my engine back from the rebuilders and can't get the distributor to seat all the against to head. It's like an 1/8th inch away. I don't know why it won't go in!! I have rotated it and know it's at top dead center and it won't go in! Help please!

I had this issue when replacing the o-ring on my distributor. It ended up requiring a lot of force to actually get the o-ring to compress.
Make sure engine is at TDC, and ensure the distributor arm is in the 12 o'clock possision, and the distributor bolt hole in the head is centered in the adjustment area on on the distributor. As you insert the distributor, and the gears mesh, the arm should rotate. If you can't get the gears to mesh, that's another problem.
If you find when you get to this point the o-ring is just entering the head (and especially if it's a new o-ring) it may take more force than you think is necessary to compress that little guy.
This has been my experience.
Just make sure those gears are meshing.
Good luck!
