87 22r 4wd issue. Any ideas will help!

Just bought my truck and I'm new to 4wd and the 22r. When I lock the hubs and put it in 4wd the left side engages and the right side doesn't. When the truck is off and I crawl underneath the truck, only the left side spins freely when I grab it and the right side doesn't spin, it's frozen. Any suggestions would help. Thanks

Problem 1: it's an open differential. Only one wheel will get power most of the time. Install a locker or limited slip to get torque to both wheels.

Problem 2: clarify, I'm not really sure what you mean about the hub being frozen. Lock on it won't turn? Lock off it won't turn?

Sorry to confuse you. I'm talking about the front axle. The rear axle has a Detroit auto locker and both spin together. The front has manual locking hubs. I tested the front 4wd by locking one hub at a time on my gravel drive way and noticed that when the passenger side is locked only I spin out But when I do the drivers side only I have total grip. I went under the truck and I can freely spin the left side of the axle but not the right. I may be confusing you more lol sorry.

Your passenger side hub isn't unlocking. Pull the dial off and check it out.
In what way do you test the 4wd by locking one hub at a time? Always lock both hubs.

Agreed. Unless trying to troubleshoot a specific issue lock both hubs. With an open diff one side will always be favored over another. You will always have one open wheel and one drive wheel, meaning one is much harder to spin by hand than the other.
