86 yota truck 4x4 exhaust manifold glowing and drinking gas baddd
I need help from anyone that can help ... i have a 86 toyota pickup 4x4 my exhaust manifold is getting red hot after driving a few min i will not get hot at idle and if it does get hot i can park it and let it idle and will cool down i DO NOT have a cat on my truck just a flowmaster and i have put a new muffler on it since then i have replaced o2 sens mass air sensor no vac leaks and when i pulled a plug to check it it was white so would mean lean correct??? well if its running lean y am i only getting 7 miles to the gallon now when i was getting over 20 before this happened... i have a new timing set that was put in last year and this problem just started 2 months ago and it has me completley stumped i need help bad

Sounds like the Cherry Manifold. It is usually caused by the timing being to far advanced. I have had it to happen to me where the distributor lock down bolt comes loose and it advanced.

i checked my distributor and everything and all was good and tight and when yours happened did it start drinking gas bad my truck is terrible on gas now and it just has me stumped y my plug is white and its using so much gas

Mine started cutting out and when I popped the hood, I knew I had something wrong.
I would suggest making sure your timing chain is on correct and then set your timing to 5 degress BTDC. Otherwise I wouldnt really know other then start looking into the fuel system. Maybe an injector or the Cold Start Injector. I would think running that rich it would smell terrible.

ok i am taking it to my shop first thing in am to check timing for sure but the truck runs and idles great i never knew i had a problem until i noticed it was drinking gas so bad the truck runs great tho thts y i never bothered to check timing but i will check and let you know if it fixes it and if anyone can think of something else i could check it would be greatley appreciated

I am not real sure how to check for pressure. What I do is take a glass jar and remove the line off of the back of the fuel rail and let it run into the jar. It gives me a good idea if the fuel flow is adequate. May not be the best check but works for me.
