86 yota no spark. Now what??

ok heres the deal. i put in a alternator and forgot to dissconnect the battery and the alt power wire sparked, then on top of that my brother hooked the batt backwards! all fuses are clear. it cranks over but no spark i took the coil to auto zone and it was giving weird readings and there was melted plastic comin out? i kno it was getting extremely hot while cranking the starter, also for some reason my horn works sometimes and sometimes it dosent? anyways PLS HELP!!!

usually when you put a battery in backwards it's like jumping a battery backwards, it will start poppin fuses left and right. make sure you double check every single one of them. you may have blown one without realizing it. did your brother smash the negative terminal down cause it's usually smaller than the positive. lol

hmm, well you said your coil had melted plastic too, might be worth a shot and getting a new one. your horn, well i know my old 93 the horn would go in and out and that was because the ground cable in the button was loose. cheapest lifts? id check out the stickey on the top of this forum.

this is what i have come up with from hours under the hood and research, enine turns fine all of fuses are in check, no burnt wires, plugs wires dist exc are fairly new. my coil resistance is within spec. yet still no spark??!!, ignition switch is good. i can only assume the problem is the igniter? now ive heard of the bypass using a gm or chevy module, ive read post on pirate 4x4 i belive? seen pics and everything of how its done but im still not entirely sure how to determine what wires go where and what they each do?, i could realy use a step by step on how to do this conversion. any help is extremely appreciated. also does anyone kno where i can get some used bogger 33x14x15 easy on the pocket?. there like 340$ but they are freakin cool! ha... thanks
