86 toyota pickup shutters when coasting
I have an 86 2wd 5 speed long bed Toyota pickup and when coasting to a stop the car jerks around and feels like you are driving over a rumble strip or if a cars anti lock breaks kicked on. I don't have anti lock brakes but i wasn't sure if this could be a sign that the rear drum brakes were sticking or catching. You can feel the car shutter a bit (barely) when accelerating from a stop but it goes away. This all happens without the brakes being applied or the clutch being applied and the car is in neutral. It does not go away when i press the brakes however so i didn't know if it was something else. I check the diff fluid and it is fine and there is plenty of clutch fluid. I have not recently changed anything on the car. The bolts that mount the tranny to the engine are tight, nothing loose there, I'm not sure what the issue could be. The front e-brake cable is also currently disconnected from the car so i don't believe those are catching. The front rotors of the car i replaced last year. I have not worked on drum brakes before so I'm not sure if that is the issue or not.
Let me know if anyone knows anything.
Thanks,

Just helped a friend on his 94 two wheel drive and his rear diff needed replaced. I would check your U-joints again as the twist test isnt always a good check, they can still be bad, I can replace the U-joints but is something I have a shop to do. I just take the drive shaft to the shop. A drive shaft shop can run it and see if it is balanced for a reasonable fee.
