86 SR5 get me 4running...

I bought this truck a few years ago. My brother drove it for a few months then moved. It has been sitting ever since. My DD has been an 85 SR5 LB. However, it has done the YO name right and can rest in peace. So for right now I am trying to get the 4Runner back up and on the road. Then from there, my budget will dictate the 'elaboration of my fabrication'. Still saving... I run a Waterjet at a welding shop

Over time I have robbed parts, from the 4runner, to keep the pickup going. With a burnt exhaust valve, sloppy transmission, leaking axles, stripped interior, and body damage; the truck is being scrapped despite it's ness.

Project List:
Motor mount
Fuel pump/Tank?
Battery
Starter
Fuel/Air filter
Spark plugs, wires, cap rotor
Engine oil change
Replace Valve screw/Adjust valve lash
Belts
EFI relay
Washer fluid reservoir
Headlamps/turn signals
Driver front fender

Most of these parts will be swapped from the pickup to 4runner with the exception of replacement parts.

4Runner

Pickup Engine bay. Hard to tear apart. Best looking part of the vehicle.

I was able to get all mechanical facets installed tuesday night. The only thing keeping this from being a complete vehicle again is the front fender and headlamps. I'm sure the apartment neighbors can't wait.

After cleaning out the fuel tank, pickup's and 4runner's differ, and installing the pump, I cranked the engine for the first time to no avail. It was almost dark and 11:30 so I cleaned up.

The fuel pump never gave any indication it was running. I did check the number one spark plug to confirm ignition.

Photos are coming.

Side Notes:
-I already corrected the firing order.
-The snow is gone.
-I am shade treeing it in assigned parking... What, it is

Yeah, I need to do some homework on mounts. Poly/rubber. Chain safety strap? Using a GM trans is new to me. Stock motor mounts are $60 at napa.

Appreciated the offer, but I am swapping stock ones over for now. HID's would be nice since it is dark all winter...

Work has a hotsy. This pic was right after washing. Big fan.

Update...PICS!!!

So I left off with buttoning the truck back together, but not having luck getting it started. Turns out I had robbed the circuit opening relay, under the passenger kick panel, a while back. Cranked right up after I got my head out of my ass. Since then I have cleaned it up a little. I have around 25 hours into it so far.

List of things left to do:
Main Fuse off battery?
Need a chrome driver side front turn assembly
Brakes need bleed diagnostic
Inspect front end
Grinding noise in 4wd hi/low
Wheel bearings?
Rear bumper brackets for plastic wrap around need cut off
Pressure wash engine bay and chassis...this may take a while
Rear after market speakers not working
Change final gear oil
Change M/T oil
Change T-Case oil
Passenger headlamp connector replacement
Windshield wipers front and rear
Install washer fluid resevoir
Steering column cover needs epoxied
Battery tie down?
Looking for matching bucket seats
Clean and lube window tracks
Inner fender fasteners

Poor Neglected Soul...

Originally the 4runner's fender. Put it on the pickup and then laid it on it's side. . . The bushes broke the fall...kinda

Two kids buying for some attention.

How it looked when I started

I have a picture of the pickup's rocker arms which are silver. Is the gold coloring from carbon build-up?

The filth abides.

Surface build-up on pulleys

4runner engine bay all back together.

Portable work station. I believe this is some military field table. Works great. Got it at the dump.

update...

Been driving the 4runner a couple weeks now. It runs great, but still needs some tlc. Exhaust leak at manifold or downpipe flange. Hardware was way loose which quieted it down, but I noticed one bolt is missing at the head. Also, it needs an alignment pretty bad and the 4wd is grinding in hi and low.

I picked up a 95 rear axle and some bucket seats for $200. The seats are very supportive with good foam. The drivers seat is torn so I would like some seat covers.

Another thing I did was remove the rear bumper along with the plastic side skirts, then cut off all the brackets for this clean look.

Engine bay cleaned up pretty well with the hotsy.
