86 SR5 4Runner value+front oil leak

Not sure if this will get flagged, but I have a two part question. What do you guys think my 4runner is worth? And what's up with the oil being flung everywhere?

It has stock aluminum wheels. 31" Cooper M + S. 4.88 gears with Eaton True Trac front and rear. V6 calipers and dual diaphragm brake booster. Mechanically sound, lots of new parts. Both steering arms, front shocks, lower ball joints. Grey, with decent paint and body. Some wheel well rust. Late model Toy bucket seats.

For the tech part of this thread, I am getting a mist of oil flung by the crank pulley. I have been checking the oil but it hasn't gone down. Do I have to replace the whole oil pump in order to changed the front crank seal? I have the useless hayes manual...;-/

Not the $6K You posted on Craigslist for
-It is 25-26 years old.
-220K miles
Yes, its a TOYOTA and you say its in decent condition. But realistically $3K tops. Put up some pictures.

The front oil seal is decently easy to replace. You dont need to replace the entire oil pump. Just the seal and maybe (probably) will need to sleeve the crank so the new seal will seal correctly. They usually wear grooves in the crank, especially if it is the original seal.

Well I figured the truck is worth 3,500 w/o gears, lsd, and 1000 in tires. Of course I expect to be worked down.

I would pay no more then $300 for a regeared, locked, and USED 3rd member. So $600 tops for a front and rear detroit locker; less depending on if only one is locked. Then you would have all the time removing them and putting something back it...assuming having something, right?

Its best to keep the gears it with the truck, especially once you consider everything...

crank seal isn't bad. remove crank pulley and gently pry 'er out. replace with an updated oem seal. it will make a new "groove"

yea as far as selling it, unless money isn't really an issue or work demands a bigger vehicle (notice the abscence of the word "reliable") there is more potential for a happy wallet in keeping it

The vast majority of diffs set up at home aren't done right and start to slip pretty quick. It's smart to let a shop do it, and it's not cheap.

My guess on what you could get for it: $3500-$4K.
