86 pickup bench seat swap question
Hello I have an 86 pickup with bucket seats and I want to put a bench seat it
I've found a ton of bench seats that are compatible but the problem im having is i have a center console plastic thing and a plastic casing around my stick shifter and 4WD shifter.
Where could I find a new stick shifter that would be compatible with a bench seat. The 4WD toyotas that came with bench seats from 86-88 did they have a small casing around the stick shift instead of the big plastic one I have now?

my 87 doesn't have a console, just the rubber boot and steel ring.
P.S. I hate my bench seat. Not all that comfy, especially that stupid bar they put behind it for "support". I have been on the lookout for some time to find a split bench and see if they are any more comfortable then the standard bench.

IIRC if you take your center console out you are left with your boot and ring which I believe might actually all one piece. That ebay link is just the boot.

I'm curious on this too, my 82 came with no type of console, I can see the road/tranny when I'm driving, so bump for an answer!
I've also considered felt and fiberglass resin to make one.

I have a 86 pickup that has the bench but its a Auto. So try one of the covers out of a Auto trans one. Might be able to to a little cutting and use a little fiberglass and it could work. Also make sure you use a Yota bench. They have the little indent in the middle of the seat. that goes around the shifter area if you have to push seat forward.

Plenty of part out threads on here, just sayin, also I believe the dealerships/oem online parts suppliers still sell these. Not sure on the 83 though.
