That is for your auto disconnect. You will need to have manual hubs or you will be turning the whole front end all the time.

I just did a swap of an 86 front diff into my 94 truck, and it works great. I was doing a gear swap and didn't want my truck to be down very long since it's my daily driver. I had the 86 diff and installed my new gears and bolted it in place of the 94. I also installed the manual hubs from the 86 and plugged the vacuum lines. It works great, and I've had no problems since the swap.

Axles bolted right up. No problems. The only headache I had was getting the diff back in place by myself. Took me an hour to get it in place. That thing is heavy! I also knocked out 3 of the studs on each axle to make it easiers to get the diff back in, that was a big help. I just put them back in once everything lined up. I've taken the truck out a few times on some short trails since the swap, and everything works just like it should. I just wish I had stuffed a locker in it while I had it out.
