'86-'92 Toyota Supra AFM

Is this the year you can use on a 22RE?
I've heard a rumor that its a popular mod for more airflow, and I figured Id ask since I just spotted this on craigslist

The one i have for my 86 4Runner with a 22RE is from a 5M-GE engine, im not sure if the one your looking at will work on your truck though.

I know this is going to sound stupid but does the valve cover or something say 5M-GE? If no then how do you know what engine is in the Supra?

Don't get stuck on just finding a supra, the cressida's were the flag ship models and they all had the 5mge motors steal the box and the Maf out of them. The throats are way big as well

A 7M-GE versionI believe works with an electronics swap, much like the later 5M-GE ones. I think it's the same size as teh 5M ones though.

A 7M-GTE one will NOT work. It's a completely different style of AFM.

i know, im ressurecting an old thread. but myyota, did you ever get it installed? and if so, how did you mount it up? i know its plug and play, i had one but sold it to a member on here, and will soon be buying it back. my problem with it was i couldnt get it mounted properly, due to not having the bottom piece for it. how did you correct that?

I mounted mine on both rigs using some all-thread and bolts as uprights. Mounted them in place of the battery once the swap was made with the battery and factory air box. It's a little ugly but it works.

No, i havn`t had a chance to install it yet, Im moving in a few months and i just have not had the time to deal with it yet. It shouldn`t be to hard to mount, just get some metal stock from the hardware store and make some brackets to mount it, thats how im going to do it when i install it.

Yup, I just used some metal left over from my K&N kit and I tap a hole in the back(not inside the afm but thru one of the tabs) of the AFM and Viola! Easy peasy.
