86-91 front bumper or 92-95

ok well i lets start with saying i have searched and came up empty handed and i know by saying that ill get a bunch of links to treads with the "answer" and thats fine since i couldnt find it

i have a 1995 2wd 4runner currently with the stock bumper on it i removed the valence and did the running lights/blinkers mod but i dont seem to be liking it very much and ive found that the downey prerunner front bumper wont work with my bumper so im inquiring about switching my bumper to the >91 style with the turn signals mounted in the bumper i talked to the owner over at downy and he said all i would need to do is swap out the mounting brackets and the bumpers and i would be set but ive been looking online on ebay (the cheapest place for stock parts online ive used them before and everything seems spot on) but im looking at the pics of the mounting brackets there not very clear but they dont look like they will work
anyone here tryed this? or maybe could tell me if it would work?
thank you very much
oh and heres the pix im looking at

im not sure if the links are going to work but if not you know the deal copy and paste in the addy bar

thanks again for any help

The front bumper mounts on a 86-89 4Runner and 90-95 4Runner are different. That said, you can spend the time yourself, or pay someone to make any bumper fit onto anything. I have both a 87 truck and a 94 truck. The 90+(89+ trucks) have additional mounting points on the left and right sides of the front of the frame. The earlier ones only have mounting points on the front of the frame.

i am aware that 86-89 4Runner and 90-95 4Runner are different but my question was about 90-91 and 92-95 if you looked at the links it shows the diff mounting brakets

heres a pic of the 90-91 bumper
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BUMPE...mZ250198543362

and heres a pic of the 92-95 bumper
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BUMPE...mZ250203819820

you can see the diff in where the turn signals mount my question is are they interchangeable or is the part on the frame where the bracket mounts different ?
and im not looking to spend the 500 ive been quoted for a custom tube bumper im looking at a downey one for around 300 actually a little lower cause its a floor sample so it would be worth the cost of the bumper swap if possible
anyone with direct info on this ?
if not i guess ill just have to drive around looking for a 90-91 4runner and slip underneeth it and hope they dont think im ing with there truck

thanks again

I think most people don't dick around with the stock bumper and just junk it and put a whole new one on. Are you talking about that thing they call a "grille guard" for $299? You can get a whole bumper for around that price - maybe a touch more. And not have to screw around with a new stock bumper.

like i said id be getting it for quite a bit less since its a floor model and im local so no shipping
total for the front guard and new stock bumper im only looking at around 200
considering marlins is about 425=whatever they would want for shiping that hefty bumper all the way to cali
i think the downey one is the way to go
thanks for the referance but ive already looked around at other bumper manufacturers and downeys is the one i like and the cheeper of all
but still not one can answer my question about the bumpers being interchangeable?

Why won't the Downey guard fit? It just bolts to 2 holes one the front cross member and 2 to the bumper. Sounds like BS to me...

And I imagine the brackets would probably come pretty close to matching up but I can't give you a definite answer. Why don;t you go pick up some salvage yard brackets just to see if they fit?

because the two that mount to the bumper mount to the part of the bumper that is about 1 inch lower on the 90-91 bumper and when you hold the bumper up to mine the 95 it doesnt mount up i would need the bumper that has the slightly lower clearence
and in cali salvage yard are wicked expencive it would be cheeper for me to buy it off ebay and i was just hoping someone could answer it for me so i can order both brackets and the bumer at the same time and get the discounted shipping other than paying for it twice
the bumper gaurd wont fit my bumper ive seen it helpd up to my truck
and all the owner at downey said is to just get the brakets and the new 90-91 style bumper and i would be set
but after looking at the brackets pix im not so sure
thanks for the help im just hoping someone will chime in knowing more about the brackets
maybe someone who owns both a 90-91 and a 92-95 4runner ??
i guess ill just have to wait till some one chimes in
