86 4runner problems.

Okay. So i have a few problems....again..lol

it only knocks at idle with no load. If i let out the clutch at idle to lug the motor down. It goes away completely. If i rev it up. It kinda goes away. If im cruising down the road at any speed at any rpms it completely goes away. Only knocks at idle..alos, it does it warm hot or cold.

I have had to put an alternator in it once every month for the past three months (good thing its lifetime warranty).

Could something be wrong with my truck?? Or just cheap parts?

Next problem. Sometimes if im cruising down the road at any speed. And roll my window down. I get a strong smell of rich exhaust smell.. And when it sits and idles a mist of fuel covers the ground(exhaust tip pointed down at ground)
no codes. No vacuum leaks. The motor has abt 4000 on it.
It is bored out .5 over and has a engnbldr cam in it.

Anythings to check??

Any help is greatl appreciated.

Anyhow, a 'knock' under no load conditions can be either the main connecting rod journal or the rod wrist pin, at the piston. A rod knock usually doesn't go away with changes in RPM or load but a wrist-pin knock usually does. A rod knock is a comparatively low-frequency knock, wrist pins are slightly more metallic kind of knock, and often sound like a 'double knock'.

Its a deep sounding knock.

And i meant .020. Sorry. I dont kno how .5 got there.

And i highly doubt its a wrist pin. Because they were machined perfectly. And at one point in time i was having oil pressure problems and had to put a new pump on it. So it could very well be a bearing. But why does it only do it at idle? And go away under a load?
