86 4runner engine swap question

im thinking about buying an 86 4runner with a 22re turbo efi motor. the motor is bad and needs replacement. I have a 1993 toyota pickup with a 22re efi non turbo wondering if i could swap them out? also keep the turbo or stay with the intake on the 22re efi non turbo? also keep in mind these are a few years apart so main question is will this motor work? and could i use that turbo intake on it?

I just don't get it, why do you want to dig a hole to cover another one? if you like the runner buy it n fix it, there's nothing nicer than a good running turbo toy. And keep your truck running, you can sell it whenever you need the $$$$$

The turbo motors have lower compression to handle to boost.

I'd throw turbo (deep dish) pistons in the re block, drill and tap the block for the turbo oil line behind the oil filter, run the turbo oil drain into the oil pan, and wire it up using the 86 turbo 4runner harness and sensors with the 93 intake manifold. run 93 octane to avoid detonation since it will have higher compression w/ the re head. Thats similar to what I did and I'm still pushing 10 lbs of boost.

Well, the good part is you have both trucks to work with, cause I think you need to swap other parts besides the motor, There's another place around, that relates to turbo trucks only, you may get more info there. good luck.
