'86 2wd pickup - What is Hanging off my Transmission?
So I get under my truck to do some work the other day, and this bracket thing is just hanging in mid-air. It's also missing a bolt on the top side.
What is it?
Been driving fine so guess it's not too important. I will of course clean it and put the bolt back in, but very curious what happened here.
Thanks for any info!

That appears to be the engine block to bell housing brace. You can compare with the other side. As far as I know, it kind of important. Looks like bolts sheared, may e bracket itself is broken?

Thanks for the reply. I will check the other side, didn't think to do that. The bolt in the picture I think is intact as I can screw it in quite a ways by hand. I will check the end to see if it is broken. I had my transmission replaced last year, I wonder if they forgot to torque those bolts and they worked their way out.

Awesome, thanks for the diagram. If it's pivoting down like that must mean there is another missing bolt or broken off corner on the top. Hard for me to see the top from underneath but I will get a better look at it tomorrow. Thanks again.

Turns out nothing was broken, bolts just weren't tightened apparently and worked their way out over the last 18 months. OEM replacements were only 1.50 each at the dealership. Part numbers have changed 90119-10025 is now 91612-61030 and 91611-61035 is now 90080-11340. The only difference is one is a bit longer.
