86 22r oil light
I purchased a 1986 toyota 4x4 about a year ago with 206,000 miles on the 22r. The truck runs great but yesterday the oil light came on. Truck sounds and runs fine. I checked the oil level and it was good. So today i changed the oil and filter and and it was still on. pulled the sending unit from the block and it had sludge on it. Cleaned it with some brake cleaner and reinstalled it and the light did not come on. Did or could i have ruined the sending unit by cleaning it with brake cleaner? I dont trust the the idiot light so I want to install a guage. Any recomendations?

I recently installed an Autometer oil pressure gauge, it uses an electrical sending unit. I haven't had any problems with it so far.
I had to get a 28bspt to 1/8"npt (Female) adaptor in order to get the sending unit mounted to the block, LCEngineering sells them http://www.lceperformance.com/Oil-Fi...-p/1072065.htm
Forgive the crappy mounting job, I'm waiting for a gauge pillar.
